Florida Tax Exemptions for Renewable Energy

On August 30, 2016, Amendment 4, “Florida Tax Exemptions for Renewable Energy,” will be on the ballot.  BOMA Florida supports Amendment 4, as it provides tax exemptions for solar power and other renewable energy equipment included in value for property taxes.  BOMA Florida is asking its members to vote YES to Amendment 4 on August 30, 2016. In addition, Florida is one of 4 remaining states that prohibits its citizens from buying electricity from anyone other than a regulated utility.  On November 8, 2016,  Amendment 1, “Consumers for Smart Solar,” will be on the ballot.  Amendment 1 prohibits building owners from choosing from whom they purchase solar power services.  BOMA Florida opposes Amendment 1, and is asking its members to vote NO to Amendment 1 on November 8, 2016.  Voting NO will allow building owners a future option for a free market approach to acquire solar power for their properties.

Thank you for your continued support of BOMA GTB and BOMA Florida and their advocacy efforts that benefit the commercial real estate industry.
