BOMA GTB News: April 2017 Print

President's Message

April is here already?  You must be fooling me!  What a whirlwind of events and networking opportunities we’ve had at BOMA GTB in the first quarter and there’s much more to come.  In April, we hope to see you at the BOMA Southern Region Conference in Atlanta from April 6-9th and on April 26th at our membership luncheon entitled “Cyber Threat Landscape”, which is presented by a veteran FBI agent and is sure to enthrall us.  Right around the corner in May is our annual Golf Tournament at East Lake Woodlands Country Club on May 22nd; sponsorships are still available and players, be sure to sign up early as we are capped at 100 this year.

Please join me in offering a huge note of THANKS to our gracious Allied Members for offering their resources and services to our thirty participating Property Management teams at the Property Manager’s Showcase on March 22nd.  What a great annual event this is to further the interests of all of our members through one-on-one intensive networking, combined with a cocktail party and door prizes to boot!

Calling all current and potential students of BOMI Education!  If you’re interested to know more about the various industry education designations offered by BOMI, combined with an in-depth look at our local educational offerings, please join the Education and Emerging Professionals Committees for an informative lunch on Tuesday, April 18th at 11:30am at Corporate Center in Westshore (see attached flyer for additional details).  As Ben Franklin once said, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest”.

I’d like to commend our Government Affairs Committee, led by the indomitable duo of Carla Markowitz and Juniper Duffin, for doing such a great job of keeping us informed of legislative and code issues impacting our industry.  To further that effort, they’ve invited Ian Erickson and Chris Mulvey of Cintas Fire Protection to educate us on the impending changes impacting the fire safety codes in our buildings on Tuesday, April 18th at 9am.  All of our committee meetings are open to all members and all are invited to attend.  Register here:  http://bomagtb.org/meetinginfo.php?id=269

Bring the kids and join the Sustainability Committee at Picnic Island Park on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd, for a beach clean-up at one of Tampa’s most scenic parks from 9am-noon (7409 Picnic Island Blvd.).  Gloves, trash bags, pickers, drinks and snacks will be provided to all volunteers.  Hope to see you there!

In honor of our nation’s 47th Earth Day, I encourage all members of BOMA Greater Tampa Bay to make every day Earth Day in all aspects of building operations.  Have a fantastic month!
