BOMA GTB News: July 2017 Print

President's Message

Many of us are just back from BOMA International in Nashville this week and bleeding BOMA blue after four days of energizing education sessions, informative International Committee updates, the largest trade show in recent history and networking with other local associations to deepen ties and gather ideas for our local.  What a worthwhile investment of time and energy!

We kicked off our new Industrial Committee this year to better meet the needs of our industrial managers and on June 30th the committee hosted its first event:  Industrial 101.  This interactive panel discussion with four industry experts from owners to leasing agents highlighted the differences with office management and the unique attributes needed by great industrial property managers.  Kudos to the Industrial Committee for putting together such a successful program with over 20 attendees.

Please join us on July 26th at the University Club for our monthly membership meeting featuring renowned leadership consultant, Cynthia Mills.  No matter where you are on your career path, leadership skills can always be honed to be sure you’re consistently putting your best foot forward.

Safe travels on your summer vacations and look forward to seeing you soon.

SAVE THE DATE! The 2017-2018 TOBY Awards will be held on November 2, 2017 at 6pm at the Mosaic Center, a spectacular new addition to The Florida Aquarium boasting beautiful views of Harbor Island and the Channelside District.  We encourage all Property Managers to enter a building, or two, and take advantage of this great opportunity to garner recognition for all the hard work you and your staff put into keeping your buildings in top condition. This year’s event introduces two new categories providing more opportunities to showcase your properties, and more chances to bring back the trophy! Please visit the BOMA GTB website and click on the TOBY tab under EVENTS for all of the details as well as sponsorship opportunities. If you are unsure about entering your property or have questions, please contact Carol Dunn,  carol.dunn@highwoods.com or Leigh Kendall, lkendall@pinellascounty.org. Green Apple Day, September 30th

For the past several years BOMA GTB has teamed up with the USGBC Florida to provide a learning experience for children at a local elementary school. Many city kids have no idea where their food comes from. The BOMA Sustainablilty Committee organizes these events and gets the grade schoolers involved in composting, raised gardening and rainwater collection.

The committee would like to invite BOMA members to join us on Saturday morning, September 30 at Cross Bayou Elementary School in Pinellas Park. We will have more information about this exciting event coming next month. Save the Date! Below is a photo gallery from last year's Green Apple Day. http://bomagtb.org/gallery.php?p=1
