The heat of the summer is upon us and things are really heating up at BOMA Greater Tampa Bay. Our May monthly Membership Luncheon and Tour of Tampa’s Emergency Operations Center was a great kick-off for the start of Hurricane season on June 1st. We continue the emergency preparedness theme in June with a joint meeting with our friends at IREM, as Meteorologist Bobby Deskins of 10News giving us his take on the 2017 hurricane season on June 28th at the Centre Club. In between, don’t miss the Engineer’s Breakfast on June 7th focusing on Energy Saving Opportunities or the Emerging Professionals’ can’t miss education on June 8th “Understanding Construction Documents 101”. Rounding out the month on June 30th, our newly-formed Industrial Committee is bringing us “Industrial 101” where you can learn the basics of Industrial Real Estate through a panel discussion with Tampa Bay’s top industrial specialists.
Many thanks to Golf Committee Chairs Denise Rue and Mike Castelli and their entire committee for another GREAT Golf Tournament on May 22nd! With unparalleled networking opportunities and fun in the sun, it’s an annual event that we all enjoy.
We hope to see a great showing from our local association at the upcoming BOMA International Conference and Expo on June 24-27th in Nashville. Come and experience for yourself the preeminent industry education, fabulous networking and one of the largest trade shows in our industry. In the words of the immortal Johnny Cash, “We're all in this together if we're in it at all.” Let’s go all in at BOMA Greater Tampa Bay and giddy on up to Nashville!

IT’S OFFICIAL: Governor Signs Business Rent Tax Cut Into Law
|Governor Scott has officially enacted the law reducing the sales tax on commercial rent in Florida by 0.2%. Although it’s only a small reduction, it’s a step in the right direction, and we hope to follow this success with future reductions in the coming years. This is an example of hour our lobbying efforts at Tally Day and our individual outreach to our legislators actually work! Thank you to all who particpated in Tally Day and who contacted their legislator through the Biz Rent email portal.|
